Kale for Dinner?

My Basket of Flowers for Today are Real and Artificial – they do look lovely!

I thought it would be a good idea to show you what I did with some of the Kale to keep it fresh for a few days before cooking.

I used the Kale as a table decoration as you can see from photo below, it looks quite nice sitting in a vase on the table. I did not think it would be a good idea to put flowers in as the Kale was going to be eaten. However it would look good with some flowers in the vase to make a good presentation if you have not got any other green leaves to put in. With a couple of pretty flowers arranged with the Kale it would make a nice display of colour….Something different for a change.

Here is the Vase with the Kale Leaves in.

Cooking the Kale – one quick easy is to Wash it very well and chop or tear the leaves into smaller pieces, also cut up the stalks into bite size pieces – put into a saucepan and just cover with cold water – bring to the boil and then simmer for about 10 minutes. Drain and eat with your main dinner meal.

One way that is nice if you are not too keen on the flavour is to put Malt Vinegar and a sprinkling of White or Black Pepper on when you go to eat it. I find that way is very nice. Plus the fact that this is a good source of several vitamins that our body needs.

Another way is to serve with a soft cooked egg on top.

Well there you are just a small cookery lesson for today.
