The above Basket of Flowers looked lovely that I made to remember my Mother on what would have been her Birthday….She would have been 100 years old if she had still been alive. Mum died when she was nearly 89 yrs old and I don’t usually think to do something special but this year I am glad that I did.
Sometimes it is nice to look back and think about some of our family who are not with us here on this earth anymore. Mainly to remember the good times – and to picture in our mind how precious they were. Even if we did not get on well with whoever it was they were still part of our lives that helped us to be who we are today.
Thought I would put a Recipe here and maybe a Poem to follow.
Here is the Recipe: Avocado Mayonnaise:
1 – Whole Egg; 1 cup-Oil; 1 Tbsp – White Wine Vinegar, 1 soft – Avocado; juice of half Lemon..
Peel Avocado, remove stone. Place in blender, along with Vinegar, Lemon & Egg. Whiz for 1 minute. Slowly add Oil in a thin stream until the mixture thickens. Serve as a Dip, with Vegetables or as a Sauce for Seafood Salads.
A lovely Display of Carnations and Gypsophila (some call Baby’s Breath)
I thought this looked so nice to put on here – as today would be our Wedding Anniversary.
You can always make a nice arrangement for yourself
when it is your anniversary of any kind.
The best thing to allow the flowers to stand where you want them – is to use Wet Oasis to hold them in place. Most of us have Al-foil that we use for cooking, that can be used to put in the vase or container if you do not have the coloured paper as in the photo above.
Also if you have a piece of ribbon to make a bow
that adds a bit of extra niceness to your arrangement.
Remember to pamper yourself for your anniversary- even with just one flower in a vase as a memory of what that anniversary is for.
Just one Flower can bring back memories, if your loved one is not here.
Memories are something to treasure.
Maybe Celebrate with a Recipe:
Taken from the book: “Carnarvon Favourite Recipes”
Hope you enjoy this if you are willing to try it…..it is very nice.
Here is a Bible Verse.
Proverbs: Chapter 4 verse 1 – says:
Listen my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.
It is very hard to find Carnations when you are looking for a special flower for someone. When you do find them they have the most beautiful perfume and will last quite a time in a vase indoors. Just cut a centimetre off each couple of days and the buds will come out as well. Put half a teaspoon of sugar in the water when you first put them in the vase, it is nice for them to feed on.
If you do these things they will last quite a time as the stems get shorter the buds should come out.
Who made flowers for our pleasure,
to bring joy to our hearts,
to comfort and bless us,
as we are living our walks in this life?
The Verse below may give us a Clue.
John: Chapter 1 verse 3
Through Him all things were made:
without Him nothing was made
that has been made.
Here is a recipe for today from Carnarvon Recipes Book.
