Find a Flower?

Roses in Frame

Here is a painting of some Roses.  This is an Oil Painting that I did, not a very large painting but I thought it looks pretty.

Today you may like to look for a flower of some sort – maybe from your garden (not the neighbours) or from one of your pot plants to take inside.

During the Winter months that are now with us here in Australia it is a nice cheerful thing to have a flower of some sort possibly in the kitchen where we have to spend a fair bit of time cooking, eating and fixing up meals, sandwiches or feeding the family or ourselves.

Here is an easy –  Recipe for today:

Sausage Meat Patties.

250g. – Sausage meat; 1-Onion (chopped into small pieces); Pepper & Salt; Dish of Flour; Fry Pan & Oil for Frying – (approx. 2 tbsp oil).

In a bowl  – Mix Sausage meat, Onion, Pepper & Salt to taste.

Wet hands, mould a small handful into a ball, flatten, press into the flour.  Flour each side of your Patty.  Put to one side and continue until all are ready.

Heat Oil in Frying Pan, cook until golden brown on each side.  Approx…..5 minutes each side. 

Eat while hot with Vegetables for a dinner.

Or

Put into a Hamburger Bun with Salad and Sauce.

Cheese Dreams

Morning Glory with Flwrs

A Lovely Basket of Flowers.

It is very rare that we can put Morning Glory – that lovely purple flower – into our Basket of Flowers because it seems so fragile when you pick it.  However it does look very nice sitting there in the middle of this arrangement.

Today I thought we may like a recipe – so here is one for: –

* CHEESE DREAMS *

You will need:

2 Slices – Sandwich Bread. Cheese to cover one Slice. Frying Pan. Oil for frying.

Method:  Put Cheese on one Slice of Bread.  Cover with the next Slice.

Cover the Frying Pan lightly with Oil, when Oil is hot carefully put in your Cheese Dream and fry until GOLDEN BROWN underneath then turn over and brown the next side.

The Cheese will melt and be YUMMY!

If you like – you can sprinkle some mixed herbs on the cheese or  (thyme herb is really good) before cooking or sprinkle some Garlic onto the cheese for a different taste.

This is excellent during the Winter months for breakfast expecially with a boiled, poached or fryed Egg.

Are we like Children

Painttng with Flowers

Lovely Basket of Flowers as a corner display.

It is nice to think that we do not have to always put a vase of flowers or a basket of flowers in the middle of the table.  They can be very effective as you can see by sitting them in a corner maybe near a window.

I hope you have been having a good day today.

Well I did a silly thing today…...I took a pretty wrapped up chocolate out ot the fridge and as it was too hard to eat I put it in my pocket to warm it up.

An hour or so later I remembered it was there and surprise, surprise it had gone all soft.

It was a blessing that the wrapper was still around it and that I had not sat on it.   So took it out and left it on the table to then harden up a bit.

When I went to eat it – I found out that it was one with melted chocolate on the inside of the round chocolate – which then spurted out of course……what a mess.!!!
The morel of this story is…...do not put a chocolate out of the cold fridge to warm up in your pocket and forget that it is there.

I must say that it still tasted very good, although I had to eat it standing over the sink and licked all I could get off of the wrapper as well.   (We can’t waste these things you know)!

That’s my report for the day.

Well with my episode regarding the Chocolate it reminds me that we should have patience with our Children when they get all yucky eating their chocolate.

Remember that Jesus loves them and us when we seem to get in a mess with chocolate or with other things that happen in our daily lives.

Look at the Birds

This is my drawing of a Paw-Paw tree.  They produce a beautiful fruit that you can just cut open and eat or use in a fruit salad.

Or using them green they can be sliced up and put in your own special Stir fry.

The seeds you can eat, they taste hot and spicy, so best eaten with a piece of the flesh.

So we can pretend that will be for the recipe today, if you have not eaten or cooked with Paw-Paw maybe you can try it sometime.  I really like it best when it is really ripe and the outside has turned a lovely orange colour and the flesh is just right to eat.

 It’s nice to cut a large slice and eat with a fork and spoon for Breakfast or maybe a starter before dinner.  Otherwide can be cut into pieces and eaten with icecream for sweets.

Today I sat outside after lunch on the patio and watched the birds in the trees outside.

Surprise, surprise there were several White Cockatoo’s sitting in the top of a large Tree playing their usual games of pecking off leaves and twigs just to make a mess for us to sweep up. Then some Crows joined them without all fighting which was quite unusual.

It is like sitting in an aviary sometimes watching the birds.  After they all flew away five beautiful Doves came to sit on the high branches.

It is good to watch God’s Creatures sometimes, to sit quietly, just for a short time in this busy life is very good threpy.

Poem about a Rose

Yellow & Red Flwrs

This is my latest Basket of Flowers ready for Church.

Not sure what the tree is called that the Yellow flowers are from but they do look very pretty.   The tree is taller than one of our sheds – so is not a shrub.

The Red Flowers are peeping over from my neighbours fence the whole arrangement I think looks very nice.

In the background are the large soft green leaves of the Poinciana tree.

Back from Holiday

Dutchmans Pipe Flwr

Back from Holiday I found these marvellous flowers that I thought had been lost forever from my garden.  I thought you may like to see them.  One Name for them is Dutchman’s Pipe.

This one above is just a normal photo that I took and shows the Sunrays coming through  – giving the picture a rainbow effect, which I thought looked really special to share.

While on holiday a friend of one of my Daughters made me some Gluten Free Biscuits as an Easter Present.  They were very nice so I asked for the recipe…….so here we are…….

Gluten Free Easter Biscuits

8 oz flour

4 oz butter

3 oz caster sugar + bit for sprinkling on top

2 oz currents

1 egg

Grated rind one lemon (other citrus also works)

1 teaspoon mixed spice

Instructions

Cream butter and sugar

Add all other ingredients

Kneed to mix

Roll out about 1/4 inch thick,

Glacé with a little milk and sprinkle with extra caster sugar Cook for about 15 mins in 175deg c oven Enjoy

Yes The Lord has been good to me – allowing me to go on holiday to meet up with some of my family who I only get to see once a year as we live so far away.

He took me there and back safely which was a blessing and coming home I found these lovely flowers that the photo’s are of which was a special surprise.

Carnations –

Carnations in Jug

What a lovely display of CARNATIONS

It is very hard to find Carnations when you are looking for a special flower for someone.  When you do find them they have the most beautiful perfume and will last quite a time in a vase indoors.    Just cut a centimetre off each couple of days and the buds will come out as well.  Put half a teaspoon of sugar in the water when you first put them in the vase, it is nice for them to feed on.

If you do these things they will last quite a time as the stems get shorter the buds should come out.

Live together in Unity

Red and Orange coloured Flowers make a Beautiful

Arrangement for you today.

Recipe that you may like to make:

Zucchini Bake  – Slice.

1-small….. Zucchini-grated

2-small…..Carrots-grated

half cup…Vegetable Oil

1-cup…….S.R. Flour

5……Eggs

Bacon Pieces

1-cup……Grated Cheese.

Method:  Mix all Ingredients together and put in Baking Dish in  Moderate Oven – 40 – 60- mins.

*  Quite nice when cold the next day  *

The Title for today is: LIVE TOGETHER IN UNITY

Really it is better if we can live together in unity.  That means I believe to try to live in peace with each other, which is difficult to do sometimes especially in a large family.

Brothers and Sisters do not always agree with each other.  But even then we can back off instead of always thinking that we are the only one that is right.  Sometimes we have to compromise with each other to live in unity instead of going our own way and disowning our family.

How lovely to stay friends and accept that the other person is entitled to their view of things even if we do not agree with them.  Well what do you think….families are precious….don’t fall out just because you think you are the only one that is right.

It is good to reconcile and try to live in UNITY !!!!!

A Brother

with Sleeping Hybiscus

A Beautiful Basket of Flowers.

Two blossoms of Sleeping Hybiscus really helps to make the Basket of Flowers look very good.

The basket is sitting on our two seater settee, so that gives you the size of it.

With Geraldton Wax, Yellow Lantana flowers including the Dark Brown Leaves of…(Not sure what the name of that plant is) helps to make a pleasing display for our home or office.

I thought it would be nice to share some of our thoughts with our Brothers….. Brothers are precious…yes I know Sisters are precious as well but in the Bible Brothers stands for all our Brothers and Sisters.

Anyway I have three Brothers who are all special to me, also three Sisters equaly precious and they all know that I am a Christian but today I thought it nice for us all to maybe think about them today.  Mine are in another Country and so memories are good to keep and also a few time during the year we like to keep in touch on the phone.

If you have not been in touch with your Brother or Sister for a while maybe it is a good time to think about it, just a word, a phone call or even a postcard to say ‘Hello’

I was able to phone one of my Brothers for his Birthday the other day, he was so pleased to hear my voice and told me that he has to have a heart operation.  If I had not phoned it would have been quite a while before anyone would have thought to let me know.  Now I can pray for his recovery.

I Hope you have a lovely day remembering or thinking about your Brother or Sister who maybe a long way away from you.
