Christmas Blessings

A Variety of Flowers make up a different kind of basket.

Even putting in a couple of odd Vinca’s in makes it look nice.

If you are not keen on the perfume from the Vinca Flowers – spray over the whole arrangement with one of your favouite perfumes.

These are set in wet Oasis, so will only last for the day like this. It is best after using them for your display area that the flowers be tranfered to a vase when you arrive home. They should then keep nice for a week in the house.

This Poem reminds us of our loved ones that cannot visit us for Christmas. It really is a Poem for someone that we know we shall not be able to see anymore for one reason or another.

Recipe: How about some Nibbles for Christmas:

Stuffed Dates

Pitted Dates + Marzipan

Cut a small slice of Marzipan and put into the opening in the Date where the stone has been taken out.

Arrange on a Platter, Cover and keep cold in Fridge until needed.

How simple is that then? and they are very YUMMY!

Yes I scanned the Poem in so it looks a bit wonky – but never mind eh!

I think most families have a box or bag or container of some sort with lots of Odd Socks in. When our children were little I used to keep all the Socks that I did not have time to pair up in a large cereal box – then when my Nanna came to visit it was one of the jobs that she used to like doing, pairing them up, so we did not have to send the children out in odd ones.

Years ago when one of my Brothers went to a wedding, guests were surprised to see that he had one red sock and one green one on….his response was that he had another pair like that at home. They did not realise my Brother was colour blind.

How fortunate we are who can see.

Carnations

Pink Carnarnations in Jug

The Carnarnations were given to me as a Birthday Boquet so I put them in this jug which seems to set them off very well. After a few days if you cut a small part off of the bottom of the stem the flowers will last much longer and you can put half a teaspoon of sugar in the water for them to feed on. (I think they like that) **************

Here is a Recipe you may like to try:

Baked Egg Custard: Use an ovenproof dish for this.

Whip up 2-Eggs. Cover with Cold Milk & stir in (1 Tablespoon) of Sugar. Sprinkle a little Nutmeg on top. Cook in Slow Oven till Set.

Water is needed

A lovely Boquet of Flowers

Have you looked at a Flower today,

have you smelt it,

have you felt it.

Do you have any that need watering today?

*

Today I found that my retriculation had not been working – Oh Dear – that is why the garden down that side of the house near the fence looked like it was dying. So that part of the garden had not been watered for sometime.

Thank goodness I do have a long garden hose, so I was able to give the plants a good drink and later on today hope to give them another drink to bring them back to life.

Now I will have to find out why they were not being watered – could be that the battery had stopped working – or maybe a leak somewhere in the retriculation pipe.

When you think of it – we are like flowers – if we don’t have water we will die.

How lucky we are in this country that we can just turn on the tap, fill a cup or glass with clean clear water and drink it – just like that –

For my part I can thank God that we are so blest that we have enough water to drink and to use on our plants, flowers and also for the growing of our fruit and vegetables.

Set Free

Here is a Poem for today: taken from the Book ‘For the Kingdom of God’ by Author J. Larman.

To be set Free.

I’ve been set free to Worship The Lord, our King of love for ever adored. Holy Spirit you love Him so. Teach me now, till into Heaven I go. To be there with Jesus our Saviour above. Filled ever-more with His glorious Love.

A love so big so strong so true. Waiting there-also especially for you. so don’t sit and dream of what might be. God really is there for you and me. Let us rise in the mornings and sing His praise. Look forward now to those Heavenly days.

Here on earth you can have the Lord’s love. God sent His Holy Spirit, represented by the Dove. If you open your heart to let Jesus in – He will take away your fear and your sin. Then after that invite His Holy Spirit too to dwell in Him and He in you.

Then you will be set free to worship The Lord, Jesus Christ our King, who is also, – by Angels adored. God sends His Angels to minister to us. They are so quiet, never making a fuss and they love The Lord truly as surely we must. So in God, Jesus – God’s Son and The Holy Spirit, let’s put our trust.

Well I believe it is really good to be a Prisoner for The Lord, so that we can walk in the Peace, Love, Contentment and Joy. Also we can pray effective Prayers knowing that as a Christian Jesus hears our prayers. Let us Pray and ask what calling we have from God to work for Him on this Earth. It can be just something that we are comfortable with i.e. helping our families or friends, we are not all called to be great Evangelists but we are called to share the Love of Jesus and the Gospel to others.

– Wild Horses –

Wild as the wind the horses run.

Tossing and neighing in the sun.

God above has given us these.

Beautiful creatures – run in the breeze.

Toss your manes – hold your heads high.

Look to your Maker in the sky.

When you stand still surely you know,

God your Maker loves you so.

Sometimes, when you stand so still,

It’s as though you really know His will.

You are obedient standing there.

Even though you look and stare.

What do you think in your beautiful head?

God has clothed you and you are fed.

He gave the grass to grow for you.

The land for you to run through.

So run my beauty – wild and free,

Ever more – for God gave you to me,

There are Geraldton Wax & Bougainvillea Flowers included to give it a stunning effect.

Maybe today you may like to use some Leaves from your Garden or Hedge row if you have one – then add a few pretty flowers to show off the Leaves.

You do not need many leaves and you could be pleasently surprised at the end result.

Beautiful Bougainvillea Flower

Bougainvillea and Lantana Arrangement

ready for the Altar.

The above arrangement looks so lovely.

They were all flowers from my garden.

It is surprising how nice you can make flowers look when you put them together with a few different leaves either in a vase or in (wet flower oasis) in a a basket.

Sit the oasis in a plastic bag so that it does not drip into the basket or onto your furniture.

You can make some lovely presentations by picking a few odd flowers and leaves from around your house or garden.

I would like to say that The Lord God made all these beautiful flowers for us to enjoy day by day.

Yes I know that some do not have any perfume and some smell peculiar – however there are special reasons for those.

Healing?

For our Basket of Flowers today we have a Vase of Flowers.

This lovely arrangement of Flowers with Marbles was for my Birthday from my Granddaughter.

It goes to show that you can use Marbles in the bottom of a clear Vase to give a nice effect.

This adds interest when you have visitors and makes a good talking point if can put the vase where they can see it.

Well I don’t have a poem for today but you may like to know that sometimes I take my breakfast – (a bowl of cereal & fruit etc.,) outside to eat as it is warmer than being indoors first thing in the morning.

So surprise, surprise – as I walked down the driveway to the front gate, looking up I saw a Pelican flying overhead. What a lovely thing to see, that great bird flying around. Yes we do live quite near the Ocean but that is the first time that I can remember seeing a Pelican fly so close to home.

Have you ever thought of having your breakfast outside instead of sitting at the kitchen table……you never know what you will see in the world outside.

Act Wisely

Here is a Basket of Flowers for today.

It is good to see a nice basket of flowers, even nicer to see our cat Harry sitting there.

He is not with us any more as he has gone to cat heaven. However he was a lovely cat very wise but shy and sometime affectionate.

As a token of his affection he would bring a mouse to the back door as a present, so I used to thank him, then leave him to enjoy his prey.

See my servant will act wisely, he will be raised and lifted up and highly exalted.

That is what Isaiah: Chapter 52 verse 13 says – in the Bible.

So when you think of it – Harry cat was acting wisely in catching his prey and bringing it as a gift to us.

Maybe we should act more wisely as we go about our daily tasks, then hopefully The Lord will lift us up. As servants of the living God it is a privilege to be able to do things for Him, to bring our gifts of obedience to Him, is something special.

Here is a Poem for us to think about living Wisely:

These are the days of our lives today, tomorrow, yesterday.

What are we doing with them? where are we now,

where have we been, where will we go?

Some have been to the depths of despair.

Some to the height of glory.

Today is a new day, a time to begin.

Start with a clean sheet at the beginning of morning.

Just as a page is in a book or a canvas for painting,

today will hold the picture that we are painting with our life.

The mornings can start with a Prayer or a curse.

The day will progress and unfold as a flower,

like petals unfolding until the flower is full bloom.

So lets start the day with a prayer and blow away the gloom.

Let us get up from our bed, try to smile and rejoice.

Remember God has given us a voice.

Use it bless those we see today.

Tell them you love them, enrich their day.

We shall be blessed when we live this way.
